The third annual VVV triathlon was held Sunday, Sept. 5 in Yankton at Lewis and Clark Lake. Thompson Trio 1200 of Vermillion placed third in the team division with a time of 1:07:14. The team was made up of Ashley, Craig and Jordan Thompson.
In the individual division, Randy Rasmussen placed seventh with a time of 1:02:47. Other Vermillion finishers were Chris Brandt 29th (1:13:30), Darin Wadley 30th (1:13:38), James Dvorak 49th (1:18:36), Reid Turner 54th (1:19:02), Erick Messler 58th (1:22:20), Carol Lavin 68th (1:22:54), Jenna Perry 116th (1:33:33), Crystal Dvorak 170th (2:08:14) and Jeffery Barr 171st (2:11:48). Chris Druin of Volin finished 149th with a time of 1:42:55.
The race was a 400 yard swim, a 14.3 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run. There were 173 individuals and 25 teams that competed in the race that was won by Sam Dannenbring of Yankton in 57:40.
