Mitch Nelson's 87 was Vermillion's best score as the Tanager golfers competed in the Charger Invitational in Sioux Falls last week.
Host Sioux Falls Christian captured the team title with a 309 score. Vermillion's 362 was good for tenth place among 14 schools.
Nelson shot a 44 going out and a 43 coming in to reach his 87. Mitch Ellison carded a 91, Peter Haught and Zach McDonald played the course in 92 strokes, and Carter Andre rounded out the Tanager lineup with a 101.
Already at the midway point of their season, the Tanagers play a dual at Yankton today at 2 p.m., then host Lennox on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at The Bluffs. The Vermillion Invitational is on tap next Friday at 10 a.m.
