Carter Andre finished the high school golf season Tuesday at the same place where he intends to finish it the next four years – at the state tournament.
The Vermillion eighth grader, who was the Tanagers' lone qualifier for the state "A" meet at Rapid City this year, shot an opening-round 93 on Monday, putting him in a tie for 54th place. That was exactly in the middle of the pack – 53 golfers ahead of him, but also 55 behind him.
Then on Tuesday in the final round Andre improved to a 90, for a final score of 183, good for a tie for 39th place.
Sioux Falls Christian was the team champion, and five other schools from this southeast corner of the state were also among the top 10 teams – West Central third, Dakota Valley fourth, Harrisburg fifth, Dell Rapids seventh and Canton ninth.
