James (JB) Albert Brown

James (JB) Albert Brown, 70, of Vermillion, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Service were on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Vermillion with Rev. Elmer "Sandy" Aakre officiating. Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vermillion with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery at a later date.

Jim was born on July 14, 1940 in Elm City to Loyal and Minnie (Styles) Brown. He joined the US Army and served in the 147th infantry. Jim met Roxan Emerson, and they were married on Feb. 21, 1987 in Elk Point.

Jim resided in the Vermillion/Burbank area for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing – it was something he loved to do. Jim liked to laugh and have fun, and he always had a funny joke and could make you laugh. Jim loved his family and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Roxan Brown of Vermillion; sons, Marty (Colleen) Brown of Dodge, NE and Brett (Jennifer) Brown of Nickerson, NE; daughters, Colinda (Jim Hall) Brown of Elk Point, Kim Dimmick of Vermillion Krys (Rusty Enderle) Devall of Milford, IA, and Karen Johnson of Vermillion; brother-in-law, Wayne Hawley; two self-adopted sisters, Joyce (Dale) Orr and Janice (Jim) Dagget; self-adopted brother, Jim Griffith; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by grandson, Dustin Sundstrom; parents, Loyal and Minnie Brown; sisters, Jessie Rassmussen and JoAnn Hawley; and brothers, Clyde Brown, Curtis Brown and Donald Brown.
