Sanford Medical Center and Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center. Community members are encouraged to help boost the local blood supply.
The only way Community Blood Bank can ensure an adequate local blood supply is through volunteer donors donating blood. When a person donates blood they save up to three patients' lives. It only takes 20 to 25 minutes to make the difference.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an I.D. with you. Community Blood Bank is now accepting those individuals with recent tattoos or body piercing if completed in a state regulated entity in the state of South Dakota, Iowa or Nebraska.
It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood. For information call Community Blood Bank at 1-877-877-3070 or Sanford Vermillion Medical Center at 605-624-2611. Walk-ins are welcome.
