Tanager tennis competing at state tournament

Coach Dan Hanson and his Vermillion High tennis girls are at the state tournament in Rapid City this weekend as their season concludes.

VHS ended the regular season at a triangular hosted by Sioux Falls Lincoln last Friday.  The Tanagers lost to the Patriots 9-0 and fell to Aberdeen Roncalli 8-1.  Claire Jones at No. 1 singles picked up the Tanagers' point against Roncalli.

On Thursday the Tanagers and Sioux Falls Washington took advantage of a perfect day for a tennis dual at the USD courts where the Warriors won 7-2.  Valerie Robinson at No. 2 singles and she and her partner, Claire Jones, at No. 2 doubles secured the two Vermillion team points.
