Julia Amelia (Reierson) Cleland, 93, of Bennington, NE, formerly of Vermillion, passed away on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Service will be on Saturday, Nov. 13, at United Methodist Church in Vermillion at 11 a.m., with a visitation to be held one hour prior at 10 a.m. Burial will be in BluffView Cemetery in Vermillion following the service.
Julia was born on Feb. 22, 1917 in Sioux City, IA, to Martin and Rika (Dorfmeyer) Reierson. She attended Beresford school. She married Marvin Cleland on July 4, 1941 in Rockford, IL, and they had two daughters.
Julia worked in two hardware stores in Vermillion for 20 years or so. She also helped out on the farm with her husband. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Vermillion, U.M.W. and the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved to dance, especially with her husband, Marvin. She also loved to crochet and do fancy work.
Julia is survived by her husband, Marvin Cleland of Bennington, NE; daughters, Lynn (Marlin) Ashmore and Connie (Merle) Ashmore, both of the Omaha area; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Rika Reierson; and brothers, Wilson and Warren.
