Yankton College and Yankton High School proudly present the 2010 Regional String Orchestra Festival, Monday, Nov. 8, at the Yankton High School Theater, featuring a record 200 high school students from South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska who come together to learn and play classical music under the direction of internationally active conductor and composer, Dr. Leonard C. Lebas.
The talented students will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. featuring musical compositions by Jean Berger, Jean-Marie LeClair and Astor Piazolla. YHS Orchestra Director Kim Evander, who organizes the festival says, "This event gives the students an opportunity to rehearse and perform in a larger orchestra plus experience a new role model from the director."
Yankton College has long stood for excellence in the fine arts and is proud to present an example of that, free of charge, for the community to enjoy. A reception will follow in the YHS Commons.
