David Owen, President of the SD Chamber of Commerce, will speak at the Rotary Club meeting from noon to 1 p.m. at the Neuharth Media Center on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Sponsored by the VCDC Legislative Affairs Committee.

Beware of Potential Scam:  A local business reported receiving a phone call from Yellow Blue Media Website Co. in Buffalo, NY requesting payment for a one-year trial period for their service.  According to Jodie Swanson with the SD Attorney General's Office, other SD businesses have received similar calls from companies with names like Yellow Blue Media, Yellow Pages, Yellow  It is an unscrupulous company – they shut down and start up in other states and use similar tactics.  If an invoice should be received, call the SD Attorney General's office at 1-800-300-1986.

Business After Hours:  Are you looking for an opportunity to showcase your business and network with your peers?  Sign up to host a Business After Hours event!  These events generally run from 5 to 7 p.m. on a weeknight and the hosting business provides hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.  If interested, please contact Ann at: or at 624-5571.

Help Alleviate Hunger – the Vermillion Lions Club is collecting canned goods for the Vermillion Food Pantry.  Each year, the Lions Club collects food and fills Christmas boxes for needy families in our community, and they need your help. Pressing Matters is helping the Lions Club and will accept your canned goods anytime through the end of January 2011.  For each donated can of food brought to Pressing Matters, get an equal number of FREE color copies.

Christmas Dinner Fundraiser at Vermillion Senior Citizen Center, Friday, Dec. 17 beginning at 5:15 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres, dinner at 5:45 p.m. followed by entertainment.  Advance tickets: $10; $13 at the door.  Call 624-8072 to reserve your ticket.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Clay County and USD, Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 from 12 to 6 p.m. at USD DakotaDome.  Relay for Life encourages teams of friends, neighbors, families, and co-workers to join together to raise money to fight cancer.  The objective is for at least one member of each team to walk (or run) around the track for the entire event, symbolizing the fact that cancer never sleeps.  For more information, contact Wess at 624-5352 or Sarah at 254-5046.
