Vermillion's girls junior varsity lost a 38-34 heartbreaker in overtime at Tri-Valley last week.
The Tanagers led by three with 15 seconds left, but a three-point field goal by the Mustangs forced overtime in which the home team outscored the visitors 4-0.
Bailey Carlson led Vermillion's attack with 18 points with Beth Szymonski and Sami Girard adding five points apiece and Lizzy Bye four. Bye and Girard led the rebounding with seven boards each, and MacKenzie Huber dished a team-high six assists. Girard contributed a pair of steals.
Vermillion led 14-4, 20-17 and 29-25 at the quarter breaks.
