Belinda Hassler, 59, went home to Heaven on Jan. 21, 2011 at Southridge Healthcare Center in Sioux Falls.
Belinda was born on May 20, 1951, in Bismarck, ND to Carroll and Fay Hassler. She graduated from Central High School in Aberdeen, in 1969. She attended Augustana College and graduated from USD with a Bachelors degree in Elementary and Special Education. She started a Special Education program in Elkton, and taught there from 1979 to 1989. Belinda moved to Sioux Falls in 1991 and worked in retail until illness forced her to retire in 2006.
Belinda loved art, music, books, animals, and teaching, but her greatest love was her family. She will always be remembered for her loving heart and her gentleness with children.
Grateful to have shared her life are her sister, Wendy Giebink; nieces, Sarah Fugleberg and Erin Giebink; nephew, Skye Giebink; and great-niece, Alaina Fugleberg and great-nephew, Nolan Fugleberg. Belinda was preceded in death by her brother, Tracy Hassler; parents Carroll and Fay Hassler; and son, Jesse Hassler.
A Celebration of Life service was held at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. Visitation began at 12 p.m., with family present at 5 p.m. Private burial was Jan. 26 in Woodlawn Cemetery.
