Delvin D. Amundson, 48, of Vermillion, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Delvin was born Jan. 13, 1962 in Viborg, to Dean and Ila Jean (Cleland) Amundson. He spent his younger years in the Spirit Mound area while attending Vermillion schools, graduating from Vermillion High School. He then went on to manage the Coyote and the Vermillion theatres. He then moved to Sioux City, IA to manage the Orpheum Theatre and the Southern Hills Mall Six Plex. He became a trouble shooter for 20th Century Fox and moved to Arizona where he then became a plumber and lived in that area for 14 years, finally returning to Vermillion.
Delvin loved basketball, fishing and hunting and had a special love for motorcycles, but most of all loved his daughters and grandchildren.
Delvin was preceded in death by his grandparents Elvin and Lovail Cleland, his grandfather Burdette Amundson, a great grandmother Louella Amundson and his step father Leroy Moe.
He is survived by his father, Dean Amundson of Vermillion; his mother, Ila Jean Cleland Moe of Vermillion; his two daughters, Ashley and Alyssa; and two grandchildren, Kylee and Ethan all of Queen Creek, AZ. He is also survived by a grandmother, Lillian Amundson of Vermillion; and two brothers, Troy Moe of Vermillion and Shawn (Lynette) Moe of Homer, NE; and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion. Burial of ashes will be at a later date. Online condolences and obituary: hansenfuneralhome.com.
