Donations to help with immediate expenses for the Craig and Angie Anthony family are now being sought. Area residents who would like to contribute to this fund for the Irene couple are asked to visit any First Premier Bank branch, or to send your donation via mail.
On Jan. 31, Craig Anthony, 62, of Irene was driving westbound on Highway 46 when the driver of a van traveling east on the highway lost control and crossed into his lane, causing a head-on collision. A passenger in the van, Ray Trezona, 69, of Yankton died at the scene. The driver of the van, Veronica Trezona, 64, also of Yankton, was hospitalized with non-threatening injuries.
Anthony suffered life-threatening injuries and is now in serious condition at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. He underwent the first of several surgeries this week to repair broken bones. Anthony has not been conscious since the accident, but swelling on his brain has now subsided, so doctors are optimistic that he will wake up soon.
Craig and Angie Anthony have three grown children, Craig Jr., Jennifer, and Shandon and six grandchildren. Both Angie and Craig had recently been laid off. The Anthony family is grateful for any financial help that area residents may be able to offer.
If you would like to donate to the cause, visit any First Premier Bank branch and leave a donation for the "Craig and Angie Anthony Relief Fund." Donations may also be mailed to: Riva Sharples, PO Box 355, Wakonda, SD 57073.
