Rally to protest ed cuts set

A rally to protest recent proposals for budget cuts by the South Dakota Legislature is planned for noon on Monday, Feb. 28, on the lawn of the Muenster University Center on the University of South Dakota campus.

USD students will be demonstrating against proposals that would cost the university $4.9 million and could result in tuition hikes as high as 16 percent.

According to a press release, the rally is backed by the Student Government Association and will be used by students as a bargaining chip when they travel to Pierre March 1 to lobby for continued funding for higher education.
