The public is invited to attend the 2011 Special Olympics basketball tournaments.
The southeast area tournament, which will include athletes from Brandon, Brookings, Canton, Mitchell, Sioux Falls,Vermillion and Yankton, will be held Feb. 5 at the Yankton Middle School.
The team competition will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the skills competition is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
The State Special Olympics Basketball Tournament will be held in Yankton on March 11-12.
Special Olympics South Dakota is a year-round program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. More than 1,600 athletes in more than 50 communities train and compete in 12 Olympic-type sports.
