David Owen, president of the SD Chamber of Commerce, will speak at the Rotary Club meeting from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Neuharth Media Center on Tuesday, March 22.  Sponsored by the VCDC Legislative Affairs Committee.

Cracker Barrel Session will be Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fire Hall Station conference room.  Sponsors include VFW Auxiliary, Clay County Democrats, Clay County Republicans and the VCDC Legislative Affairs Committee

March 29 � �Preparing to Launch the Business� with Lisa Bryan & Dustin Pratt.  This seminar will provide participants with the tools to launch their business venture.  We will focus on the elevator pitch, accessing capital, bootstrapping, utilizing social media to market your business, and business plan competitions.

Tour de Kota:  Hundreds of visitors will be in our community when Vermillion hosts the Tour de Kota on Thursday, June 9.  Riders will be biking from Freeman to Vermillion and arriving here beginning the morning of June 9 and staying for the day and last overnight of the tour.  Events will take place on the USD tailgate grounds between Coyote Village and Dakota Street south of the Dome.  Watch for more details in the coming weeks � this will be a great opportunity to showcase our city and welcome visitors!!

Business After Hours:  Are you looking for an opportunity to showcase your business and network with your peers?  Sign up to host a Business After Hours event!  These events generally run from 5 to 7 p.m. on a weeknight and the hosting business provides hors d�oeuvres and refresments.  If interested, please contact Ann at:  annb@vermillionchamber.com or at 624-5571.

Annoucements:

The Eagle Riders are raffling a 2011 Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail.  Tickets are $20 each with the proceeds going to the Diabetes Research Center, state and local charities.  Tickets can be purchased at the Eagles Club 605-624-9934 or from any Eagle Rider member.  Only 2,000 tickets will be sold.

Big Friend-Little Friend, Inc. of Clay & Union counties is seeking two adult males to match with boys in Elk Point and Burbank, and two adult females to match with  girls in Vermillion.  Volunteers spend two hours per week with their matches, and all volunteers have background checks and interviews prior to the match.  For more information, contact John P. Sharing the Dream April Trip to Guatemala:  Weaving & Textile Crafts Tour, April 2-10. Limit of four people. The course includes one Indigenous Guatemalan teacher per pair of students, a back strap loom and all materials needed for weaving, classes English translation during the whole tour, transport, lodging, and food. Vermillion Special Olympics Polar Plunge � Vermillion Special Olympics will be hosting the second annual Polar Plunge fundraiser � Freezin' for a Reason!  The Plunge will take place April 10 at 2 p.m. (registration from 12:30 to 2 p.m.) in the high school parking lot.  Jumpers will plunge into a lined dumpster filled with very cold water!  The cost is $100 to jump with the price including a free t-shirt and meal at the after jump party.  For $25, children can take the plunge into a kiddie pool filled with warm water with the price including a free t-shirt.  Prizes will be awarded for best costumes and top money raisers.  For more information please contact Jen Law at 670-0030 or Dave/Nikki Stammer at 624-8420.
