Robert Burnell Charrlin, 69 of Warrensburg, MO, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, MO.
Robert was born March 10, 1942 in Vermillion, the son of Burnell H. and Martha B. (Peterson) Charrlin. He graduated from Vermillion High School and attended University of South Dakota, also in Vermillion. Next, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Robert was united in marriage to Lorraine R. Ruhaak on April 9, 1966 in Elk Point. The couple made their home in Vermillion, where he was a police officer. In 1972, he re-enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed in Cheyenne, WY for seven years. Next he served in Panama, South America for one year. Later, Robert was stationed in Omaha until moving to Warrensburg in 2000. He retired from the Air Force in 1992 following 24 years of service. He was a member of Warrensburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2513; American Legion Post #131; Disabled American Veterans; and Kiwanis Club of Warrensburg.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Lynn Charrlin, M.D. of Lexington; a son, Brad Charrlin and wife, Tami of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle and Jake, all of Omaha; and a brother, Allan Charrlin and wife, Janice and their family of the Beresford area. Robert was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Mary Ann Wood.
Funeral services were 12 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Kurz officiating. Graveside services followed at 3 p.m. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, with Military Graveside Honors by Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Joe Sloan, Wayne Broady, Robert Compton, Thomas Mellinger, Sam Jones and Gene Burden. Honorary Pallbearers were Kiwanis Club of Warrensburg and Parkers Morning Coffee Club.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until service time, Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
