Helen Meylor, 68, of Vermillion, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at her residence after a battle with cancer.
Helen was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Waterbury, NE to John and Cecilia Marx. She graduated from Waterbury High School and worked at AT&T as a telephone operator until 1969.
Helen married Leonard �Pat� Meylor on Sept. 17, 1966, in Ponca, NE. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active volunteer for many years at Birthright of Siouxland.
She is a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion and was previously a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City, IA and St. Michael�s Church in Kingsley.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (Lisa) Meylor of San Antonio, TX, and Kevin (Pam) Meylor of Vermillion; as well as two brothers and four sisters, John (Pat) Marx of Lubbock, TX, Cecilia Patterson of Danbury, IA, Mary Dierking and Margaret Craig, both of Ponca, NE, Susie (Dan) Comstock of South Sioux City, NE, Nick (Mary) Marx of McCook Lake. She is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Maddie, Brendan, Patrick, Connor and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with burial in St. Michael�s Cemetery in Kingsley, IA. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Monday, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. all at the church. Online obituary and condolences:hansenfuneralhome.com.
