Jensen appointed to First Judicial Circuit

Chief Justice David Gilbertson has announced the appointment of the Honorable Steven Jensen as presiding judge for the First Judicial Circuit.  Judge Jensen�s appointment will follow the retirement of current Presiding Judge Arthur Rusch and becomes effective on June 9. 

Judge Jensen is a 1988 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law.  He was appointed as a circuit court judge in 2003 after 14 years in private practice.  Judge Jensen will continue to hear cases primarily in Union and Clay counties. 

The chief justice expressed his appreciation for Judge Jensen�s willingness to serve the Unified Judicial System and people of South Dakota in this manner. 

The First Judicial Circuit consists of Aurora, Bon Homme, Brule, Buffalo, Charles Mix, Clay, Davison, Douglas, Hanson, Hutchinson, McCook, Turner, Union and Yankton counties.  The First Judicial Circuit is served by six circuit court judges, two magistrate judges, and court clerk magistrates in each county in the circuit.
