Carlee Sorensen and Alex Larson were selected as the March Students of the Month for Vermillion High School. Their contributions in the classroom and in the community are being rewarded with a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust-Vermillion.
Sorensen is a very industrious student, according to her faculty recommendation. She is also very respectful toward her teachers and peers. She plans to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings to major in nursing.
Her abundance of extra-curricular activities include basketball, track, National Honor Society, and volleyball. She was a Girls State candidate and she was All-State in softball. Her parents are Kirk Sorensen and Dawn Nelson.
Larsons independent nature and team commitment are two of the personal qualities that I think of when asked about his character. His faculty endorsement goes on to say that it is a true pleasure to witness his determination. His parents are Gary Larson and Christina Keller.
His plans are to study physics in college. He is a National Merit semifinalist and was Academic All-State in football. He also has been involved with the Young Democrats, Quiz Bowl, band and National Honor Society.
