VHS tennis shut out by Lynx

Like other spring sports, boys tennis at Vermillion High School has taken it on the chin from the rainy and snowy weather of the past week, but the Tanagers did beat the onslaught of the moisture with a dual against Brandon Valley last Tuesday.

A dual at Mitchell scheduled for Friday, however, was snowed out.  On Monday a dual at Sioux City North was rained out.

In the Brandon Valley dual last week the Tanagers had some competitive matches but couldn't pick up a victory in a 9-0 loss to the Lynx.  Vermillion's No. 1 singles man, Wes McBride, gave his BV opponent, Elliot Blue, a good match in losing 3-6, 3-6.  McBride and his doubles partner, Camden Raizola, lost a 3-6, 1-6 match to Blue and Mack Driscoll.  Ethan Druin, No. 2 singles player for VHS, won six games in his loss, and Raizola at No. 4 won four games in his match.

If weather were conducive to outdoor tennis, the Tanagers were to play Sioux Falls Washington yesterday (Thursday), and they will try to host Yankton at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
