Joseph C. Hirocke Jr., 49, formerly of Vermillion passed away on Sept. 7, 2010 in Orlando, FL.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion. Burial of ashes will follow the service on Saturday in Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion.

Joseph was born on Dec. 29, 1960 in Vermillion. Growing up, Joe attended school in Burbank and Elk Point. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1979 and set many records in track and cross country.

After graduation, Joe joined the Marine Corps where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He was privileged to serve at our American embassies in several countries as a guard.

After serving his country, Joe returned to Vermillion and stayed until the passing of his mother in 1998. He then traveled to Florida, where he lived until his untimely passing.

Joseph is survived by his sisters, Nadine Burow of Yankton, JoAnn Mentzer of Ponca, NE, Rose Hirocke of Vermillion, and Ella Hirocke of Gayville; brothers, Raymond and Michael Hirocke, both of Massachusetts; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph C. Hirocke Sr. and Helen (Oakie) Hirocke; brothers Clifford and Les Hirocke, Gordon Horn Eagle; sisters Debi Buschelman, Delores Tiny Drappeau; and nephew Mark.
