Former University of South Dakota football player, Desmond Allison, was shot and killed outside an apartment complex in Columbus, OH, on Monday, according to reports.
�The Coyote Family is saddened by the loss of our friend and teammate Desmond,� South Dakota head football coach Ed Meierkort said. �Dez was always a positive and vibrant person and we are keeping his family in our prayers.�
Allison, 31, played two seasons for the Coyotes, helped lead the team to the 2005 North Central Conference championship and a second round berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2006.
Prior to arriving to South Dakota in 2005, Allison played basketball for head coach Tubby Smith at the University of Kentucky from 1998-2000.
