Duane Ray (Cheyenne) Ugofsky, 67, of Vermillion, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point.
Duane was born Oct. 29, 1943 in Yankton County to Ray and Mabel (Rokusek) Ugofsky. He attended Cedar Grove School thru eighth grade before moving to the Yankton School District. Although he never had the chance to receive his high school diploma, he did have a hand in making it possible for others to have an education by working on the construction of several school buildings for all ages in our state, including USD in Vermillion.
He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, watching NASCAR during the entire season and cheering on his favorite driver, Dale Ernhart Jr. He especially enjoyed spending time with his numerous nieces and nephews at any time.
He will be greatly missed by his brother, Dale (Mary) of Harrisburg; a brother-in-law, Dan Goeden; and special friend, Rose Hirocke of Vermillion; and dear friend, Ella Hirocke of Gayville; and his three generations of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Louis Binder; and three sisters, Carol, Donna and Mary Lou.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion with burial of ashes following in the BluffView Cemetery in Vermillion.
