Letter: Donations sought for Tanager tennis

As most people are aware, recent budget cuts by the state of South Dakota created the necessity for budget cuts by the Vermillion Public Schools.  The school board cut from a variety of academic programs and co-curricular activities.  In one case, the board completely cut the girls (fall) and boys (spring) tennis programs. This was budgeted for approximately $8,500.

In response to this cut, a group of students and parents have engaged in fundraising to pay for the tennis programs.  The students and parents have held a tennis tournament where players came from Sioux Falls, Sioux City, IA, Brandon Valley, Yankton and even Milbank.  The Booster Club has generously made a contribution. On behalf of the 36 students in the tennis program, we want to thank the Booster Club and all those who have made contributions.  Although these have helped, the students need to raise more funds to pay the cost of the two tennis programs in the future.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation even if you do not currently have a child or relative in the program.  All checks should be sent to:

Vermillion Public Schools Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 569, Vermillion, SD 57069

Should have any questions, please call David or Lynne Day at 624-3495 or email at dsdayconsult@hotmail.com.  Thank you.
