� Community Celebration: At Sanford Health we are pioneering the future of health care and we think it�s something to celebrate. To show our thanks, Sanford Vermillion invites you to come and enjoy a picnic, music, games and ice cream from 5-7 p.m. at the Vermillion High School Commons, 1001 E. Main St.

� AUG. 20 � Heritage Ride 2011: Big Friend-Little Friend of Union County Heritage Ride will be held. Registration at Cody�s Homestead, west side of Main St in Elk Point, (Exit 18 off 1-29) beginning at 8 a.m.; bike ride begins at 9 a.m. Routes from 8 to 58 miles, all on blacktop; ride is open to any level of rider 10 years and older. All proceeds support BF-LF, Inc. youth mentoring in Clay & Union counties. Lewis & Clark Heritage Days Festival will also be taking place at the City Park. � AUG. 27-28 � Great Dakota Wine Fest, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Valiant Vineyards/Buffalo Run Resort, 1500 W. Main St. Free to come; $15 for tasting ticket. Live music by T. Wilson King & others. Wine tasting, cooking demonstration, winery tours and local craft and food vendors.

� AUG. 31 � Ice Cream Social from 5-7 p.m. at St. Agnes Auditorium. (Taverns, chips & pie also served). Free will offering with proceeds to go to St. Agnes School.

� SEPT. 1 � Thursdays on the Platz, 6-8 p.m., corner of Market & Main streets. DJ music outdoors on Ratingen Platz. Sponsored by the VCDC and USD. Food is available as well as water, pop, wine & beer.
