On behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Dakota and the kids in the Vermillion/Yankton area that we serve, thank you to everyone who attended the July 27 fundraising event in Vermillion. The fifth annual event, which included dinner, auction and a live band, raised more than $16,000 to help children with life-threatening medical conditions in the area. This brings the five-year total to more than $63,000.
Special thanks to organizers Gary Madsen, Jim Brady, Rick Steenholdt, Bruce Fischbach and everyone who planned and organized the event. Thanks also to the many area businesses and individuals who donated items for the auction. Finally, to everyone who attended, thank you for your generosity.
Our vision is to grant wishes to every eligible child referred to us across South Dakota. Events like this help us do just that. We have granted more than 50 wishes statewide this year and 900 since our chapter began in 1984. Five wishes this year have been in the Vermillion/Yankton area and another six kids are eligible to receive a wish in the coming months.
Thank you again! Please join us next year at the event. You can learn more about Make-A-Wish at www.southdakota.wish.org
