South Dakotas Unified Judicial System (UJS) and Access to Justice, a program of South Dakotas State Bar Association, are working together to offer free clinics to members of the public who are representing themselves or considering representing themselves in divorce and other domestic legal actions.
The informational clinics will assist with the completion of UJS-approved pro se forms only and will provide a general overview regarding the legal process. The forms may be downloaded for free at http://ujs.sd.gov/forms/default.aspx or purchased at a clerk of court office.
Legal advice will not be provided nor will an attorney/client relationship be established.
Further information, including a list of dates/times and locations across the state, is available on the UJS website at http://ujs.sd.gov/uploads/forms/FlyerProSeClinic.pdf.
Clinics in the Vermillion area are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 14 in the Yankton County Courthouse, Yankton, and 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Union County Courthouse, Elk Point.
All clinics are subject to cancellation or change, caused by the weather or other unanticipated event. Before you come, phone the courthouse.
If you cannot attend a clinic, you can get help completing the forms by phoning the USD Law School's Legal Forms Help Line at 1-855-784-0004 or Access to Justice at 605-791-4147.
