The 2011 South Dakota State Fair was held Sept. 1-5 in Huron. Two hundred ninety entries were exhibited by Clay County 4-H members through static and livestock exhibits and Youth-In-Action contests.
Sixteen county judging teams participated in the State Judging Contests. Seven teams and ten individuals placed in the Top Ten of their respective contests. Amanda Havermann placed eighth and Nicole Hauck placed ninth in Beginner Horticulture, Taylor Lyso placed eighth in Junior Horticulture, Brittany Hanson placed first and Ellen Hanson placed second in Senior Photography, Emily Rolfes placed sixth in Beginner Visual Arts, Pearl Gaidelis placed first in Senior Visual Arts, Phillip Hauck placed ninth in Beginner FCS, Brittany Hanson placed fourth in Senior FCS and Pearl Gaidelis placed fourth in Senior Rabbit.

Junior Horticulture with team members Brianna Huot, Kevin Huot, Tyler Hauck and Taylor Lyso.

Beginner Visual Arts with team members Nicole Hauck, Emily Rolfes, Phillip Hauck and Amanda Havermann.

4-H members participating in the State Fashion Revue Contest and their ribbon placings were Ellen Hanson, purple; Marley Hanson, purple; Erika Fallan, blue and Taylor Lyso, purple and blue.
Participating in the State Special Foods Contest were Nicole Hauck, Phillip Hauck, Tyler Hauck, Amanda Havermann and Erika Fallan. All of our members received purple ribbon placings.
Public Presentation contestants were Tyler Hauck, Pearl Gaidelis, Amanda Havermann, Taylor Geu and Ellen Hanson. All members received a purple ribbon.
