Vermillion High School students were busy throughout the community during the 2011 Tanager Volunteer Day,
Tuesday, Sept. 20. Students participated in a full day of work from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Their tasks included cleaning, painting, vacuuming, planting and trimming trees, and a variety of chores at both public and private sites in the city. Nathan Svendsen and Zechariah Westergaard were just two of group of students that applied a coat of primer and paint to the new ticket booth at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Meanwhile, a group of their fellow students, having completed several tasks on Tuesday, picked up litter in downtown Vermillion as they walked back to the high school.
