- Mentoring Program: Clay-Union Foundation, Inc., formerly known as Big Friend-Little Friend of Union County, Inc., continues its mission of mentoring youth in these two counties. The program matches youth age 5-17 years old with qualified and screened adult volunteers. Each volunteer spends two hours a week with their match, and both the youth and the adults report many benefits by building a close relationship. New mentors and youth are always welcome to the program. Right now, the program has three adult female volunteers ready to match in Vermillion, and is seeking girls age 5-12 who are interested in having a mentor to spend time with them. A male volunteer is also needed to match with a 14-year-old boy in Vermillion. To sign up a youth, please contact John P. Gille, program director at 605-421-5050, or email him at email@example.com for more information. The Clay-Union Foundation is supported by the United Way of Vermillion, as well as numerous other businesses and individual donors.
