Richard Norris Lind, 80, of Vermillion, passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at the Avera McKennen hospital in Sioux Falls.
Visitation was held at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion, on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service was held at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion, on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert Chapman officiating.
Burial followed the service at Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery in rural Vermillion.
Richard was born on his folks' farm in Vermillion on Aug. 23, 1931, to Ernest and Florence (Hedlin) Lind. He spent his childhood on his family's farm. Richard attended Marshalltown school until eighth grade and graduated from Vermillion High School.
Following school, Richard began living his passion of grain farming and raising livestock. On July 27, 1963, Richard married Thelma Rose Berndt. He greatly enjoyed his family, attending livestock auctions, and country living.
Richard is survived by his wife, Thelma; his sons, Perry Lind of Vermillion, and Ron (Joy) Lind of Sioux Falls; his daughters, Cathy (Craig) Jensen of Vermillion, and Kris (Danny) Jones of Elkland, MO; his sisters, Avis (Virgil) Brugger of Rapid City, and Lenette Macy of Sioux Falls; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Florence Lind; and his brother, Howard Lind.
The Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion is entrusted with the arrangements.
