VHS tennis results at state girls tournament

Valerie Robinson was the most successful of Vermillion's players at the state girls tennis tournament in Sioux Falls last weekend.

Robinson, after a first-round bye, lost her opening match but won the next three straight over opponents from Mitchell, Sioux Falls Lincoln and Pierre to reach the consolation championship match.  There she lost to Titze of Watertown, 10-4.

In No. 1 doubles play Robinson teamed up with Claire Jones as usual.  After a first-round bye they defeated a Brandon Valley team, 6-2, 6-2, but lost to an Aberdeen Roncalli team next, then lost to an Aberdeen Central duo in a match that determined who would advance to play in the fifth-place match.
