The Vermillion High School "Fall Show" is set to happen on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 starting at 7 p.m. at the Vermillion High School Performing Arts Center. This is the first opportunity to see the talent of the 2011 Vermillion High School show choirs and the Vermillion Middle School students sing as well as dance solos and group numbers. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students K-12. Everyone attending Fall Show will get a little sample of the Rhythm in Red, Maganda Boses and Music in Motion show choirs.
Rhythm in Red is the varsity show choir of the Vermillion School District. Auditioned members range in age from freshman to senior, and they are all members of the Vermillion High School Choirs. They consist of 32 singers/dancers, nine combo members and three crew members. Rhythm in Red tied with Marshall's Tiger Drive for second runner-up at the Mitchell Show Choir Classic competition and took first at the USD Coyote Jazz Festival in March of 2011.
Maganda Boses is in its second year at Vermillion High School. The young women auditioned last spring and early fall to be a member of the high school prep show choir group. This group consists of 19 singer/dances.
Music in Motion is Vermillion Middle School's only show choir. Non-auditioned students from seventh through eighth grade comprise its members. In March of 2011, under the direction of Kristin Schmeling, the middle school show choir group Music in Motion placed first at the Mitchell Show Choir Classic competition.
Rhythm in Red starts their 2011-12 competition season at the end of January competing in Omaha, Neb., then in February they travel to Aberdeen for the Center Stage competition and host the fourth annual Vermillion Invitational on Feb. 25 at the Vermillion High School Performing Arts Center. In March, they compete at Sioux Falls Washington's "Best in Show" competition, USD's Coyote Jazz Festival (Maganda Boses will also compete) and at Mitchell's Show Choir Classic competition. Maganda Boses as well as Music in Motion will also be competing at the Mitchell Show Choir Classic.
