Sign-up for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments (SURE) program for 2010 crop year losses began on Nov. 14. Clay County experienced severe flooding and other natural disasters in crop year 2010, therefore, producers who have suffered a 2010 crop loss may want to contact our office to schedule an appointment by calling 605-624-7060 #2.
Clay County received a Disaster Declaration in 2010; therefore, Producers who operated in Clay County will only need to have at least a 10 percent production loss from one crop of economic significance on all acres to qualify for a SURE payment. Producers with agricultural operations located totally outside a disaster county are eligible for SURE benefits if they had a production loss greater or equal to 50 percent of the normal production on the farm.
To meet program eligibility requirements, producers must have obtained a policy or plan of insurance for all insurable crops through the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation and obtained Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage on non-insurable crops, from FSA. Eligible farmers and ranchers who meet the definition of a socially disadvantaged, limited resource or beginning farmer or rancher do not have to meet this requirement. Forage crops intended for grazing are not eligible for SURE benefits.
Please contact our office when changes in ownership or operation take place because it may be necessary for the office to complete a reconstitution. The reconstitution process is the combining or dividing of Farm(s) or Tract(s) of land based on the farm operation. As these changes occur for the 2012 crop year, please notify our office to start the process for reconstitutions.
