Take a political science course from Rich Braunstein and you'll notice a shortage of paper handouts. It's one way the Vermillion school is trying to reduce its carbon footprint and is featured in South Dakota Magazine's annual Guide to Higher Education, included in the new January/February 2012 issue.
This year the special section explores how South Dakota's colleges, universities, technical schools and tribal colleges are becoming more environmentally friendly. At the University of South Dakota, it's about reducing paper usage across campus and encouraging walking or bicycling to and from campus rather than driving.
South Dakota Magazine is published in Yankton. It explores the history, arts, culture, sports and outdoors of the state. To order a copy or to subscribe, call 1-800-456-5117.
