  • National Music Museum (NMM) Brown Bag Lunch Program, "A Touch of Brass," at 12:05 p.m. February program sponsor: Clay County. Location: Arne B. Larson Concert Hall at the NMM located on USD campus, corner of Clark and Yale streets. Free and open to the public.
  • Music Recital: Guest Pianist Ksenia Nosikova, 7:30 p.m. in Colton Recital Hall in Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts on USD campus. Open to the public at no charge.

Saturday, February 25

  • Overeaters Anonymous, 9 a.m., 20 S. Plum St., administration entrance – board room. Description: Overeaters Anonymous is a 12-step program for people with eating disorders and struggles. The group meets every Saturday.
  • Fun and Games from 1-4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Vermillion Public Library. Adults and youth ages 12 and up will play board games and put together jigsaw puzzles. A wide variety of challenging and interesting games and puzzles will be available to provide mental stimulation. Learn or show others how to play Blurt, a popular vocabulary-building game. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
  • Cracker Barrel Session, 10 a.m.-noon at the City Hall Council Chambers at 25 Center Street, Vermillion.
  • Rhythm in Red Show Choir Invite at Vermillion High School.
  • Music Competition: Truran Piano Competition. Piano teachers are encouraged to enter their grade 8-12 students in this annual competition from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in Colton Recital Hall in the Warren M. Lee Center for Fine Arts on USD campus. For more information, e-mail: susan.gray@usd.edu.
  • Music Concert: Spring Choral Showcase: USD's Choral Ensemble join to present an afternoon of music at 3 p.m. in Slagle Hall Aalfs Auditorium on USD campus. Open to the public at no charge.

Wednesday, February 29

  • Celebrity Chef Robert Hesse (as seen on "Hell's Kitchen") and Café Brulé serve a world-class six-course dinner with wine at Café Brulé. Two seatings at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Proceeds go to benefit Domestic Violence Safe Options Services. Call 605-659-4933 for tickets.
  • The Department of Labor and Regulation will be hosting a Job Search Assistance Program (JSAP) at 1024 West Cherry Street, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The JSAP is a free workshop for people recovering from job loss or enhancing their job search skills. Trained instructors speak on modern-day techniques used to successfully find employment. Topics covered are: resume and cover letter writing, interviewing etiquette, networking effectively, using social media and much more.   • Evening Lecture: "Strings, Pipes & Commerce: The Historical Economics of Musical Instrument Making," featuring John Koster, National Music Museum (NMM) conservator, at 7:30 p.m. in the Arne B. Larson Concert Hall at the NMM.

  • March Movies Film Festival: "The Notebook," is featured in March Movies at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Vermillion Public Library. In this film, an elderly man reads a love story to his wife who is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's. Hot drinks and popcorn will be provided. Free and open to the public.
