Wagner outperformed Vermillion and West Central in a gymnastics triangular Monday night, but the Tanager girls made it close at the top.
Wagner won with 117.9 points, Vermillion had 115.05 and West Central finished at 96.35. The meet was the last of the regular season. Next up is the Region 2A meet at Wagner next Friday, Feb. 10, to determine entrants into the state meet on Feb. 17-18.
The Tanagers had two girls in the top five of Monday's all-around standings. Morgan Hower was fourth at 28.65 and Val Moos fifth at 28.1. The champion was Wagner's Hannah Fleming at 31.7.
Moos gave Vermillion an event championship on the uneven parallel bars, winning with a score of 8.25. Hower was fourth at 7.65 and Anna Hammond sixth at 6.95.
Moos in second place was the Tanagers' best in the vault at 8.45, but teammates followed in third through sixth places. Hower was third at 8.4, Hammond fourth at 8.35, Alexis Reich fifth at 8.35 and Cheyenne Mallory sixth at 8.3.
Rory Tucker captured second in floor exercise at 8.15. Moos was fourth at 8.05, Jade Fostvedt fifth at 7.9 and Reich sixth at 7.8.
On the beam Fostvedt, fifth at 5.35, and Hower, sixth at 5.15, were Vermillion's best placers.
