  • Vermillion Special Olympics Polar Plunge at Vermillion High School parking lot. Lunch at 11:30 a.m. registration at noon, polar and kiddie plunge at 1 p.m. The event offers a super, great, fun time and helps Special Olympics Athletes! Free shirt to all "plungers!"   • The Vermillion After-Prom Committee will be having a Silent Auction Fundraiser at noon at the National Guard Armory, 913 Princeton St. Lunch will be served:  Pork sandwiches, chips and drink. Bake sale items also. Entertainment will be provided.   • MARCH 31 — The 28th Annual South Dakota Science Olympiad State Tournament at the University of South Dakota. More than 250 middle school and high school students from across the state will be competing in several science events. Faculty, staff and students from USD organize and judge the individual challenges and team events. Science Olympiad is an international non-profit with a mission to improve science education quality, increase interest and recognize outstanding achievement by students and teachers.
  • MARCH 31 — The Southeast South Dakota Pheasant Association banquet will be at Pro's. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. Banquet starts at 6 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $15 for singles and $20 for couples, $5 more at the door. Banquet ticket holders are entered in a drawing for a 12-gauge shotgun. There will be additional raffles, games, silent and live auction during the banquet. Association memberships are $10 pre-sale or at the banquet. They are $25 the rest of the year. Raffle tickets are also available for a 2012 Polaris Ranger. Tickets are $20 with only 500 sold.   • MARCH 31 — There will be a fundraising/auction banquet at the W.H. Over Museum at 1110 University, Vermillion at 6 p.m. in Sletwold Hall assisted by 4-H members. Admission wil be $25 a person which will include a meal, entertainment and an auction. Larry Larson will be our auctioneer as well as directing the band, Highway 50, for our featured entertainment.

  • APRIL 1 — Sub Sandwich Fundraiser sponsored by St. Agnes Youth Group. Youth group will be making 180 ft. sub to be sold following the morning masses from 9 a.m.-noon. Fundraiser for the youth group summer trip to Valley Fair and a Twins baseball game in June. Contact Ray Hofman or any CYO student for more information.
  • APRIL 3 — Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Ages 1 – meet at 5 p.m. at Sanford Care Center, Vermillion Courtyard (enter from the south on Jane St.); ages 4-6 and 7-8 meet at 5:30 p.m. at Prentis Park (south side). Two special prizes per age group. Bring your basket. Rain location: Old Pamida Bldg., 509 W. Cherry at 5:30 p.m. Co-hosted by Sanford Vermillion, HyVee and Sanford Care Center.
  • APRIL 5 — MINGLE at RED with the Dakota Hospital Foundation, 4:30-9:30 p.m. Where: RED Steakhouse, 1 E. Main St. RED Steakhouse is launching an annual philanthropic event that aims to raise funds for causes that benefit the Vermillion community. The annual event, MINGLE, is a gourmet food and wine tasting event designed to gather people together and raise awareness and funds that will benefit the local community. For the inaugural event, RED Steakhouse has decided to "mingle" with the Dakota Hospital Foundation (DHF). Proceeds from this year's MINGLE go towards a third labor and delivery room within the Sanford Vermillion Hospital. For more information or to purchase tickets please call RED Steakhouse at 624-0079.
