SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) — Alexis Watts had 20 points and Miller rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to beat Vermillion 57-50 Thursday in the first round of the South Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament.
Watts was 8-for-8 from the free-throw line for the Rustlers (21-2), who shot 57 percent from the field to advance to the state semifinals. The Rustlers hit 74 percent in the second half.
Jansen Hunter had 11 points and Tara Parmely 10 for Miller. Mallory Fischer had nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Kelly Amundson was the only Vermillion (18-5) player in double figures with 12 points.
