Harlan Forster, 77 of Pierre, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Harlan was born July 28, 1934 in Salem, to Marion and Genevieve Forster. He grew up on a farm near Salem, graduating from Spencer High School.
He was united in marriage to Linda Kessler and from this union six children were born, Amy (Geren) Waters, Tucson, AZ, Chris (Christine) Forster of Ft. Pierre, Julie (Dan Raap) Forster of Hartford, Bruce Forster, Wes (Jamie) Forster of Cedar Rapids, IA and Eric (Karen) Forster Cedar Rapids, IA. He was then united in marriage to Connie Hoffman and welcomed her children, Mona, Tina, James and Jennie.
He was known for his love of fishing, playing cards and baseball.
Harlan is survived by his long time companion, Ruth Posey; his children; brother, Loy (Marian) Forster; sisters, Brenda Vetter and Bonnie (Chuck) Schroyer; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Arlis; his son Bruce and wife Connie.
