Szymonski, Schnack named Students of the Month

First Bank & Trust would like to congratulate Elizabeth Szymonski and Sabrina Schnack on being March's Vermillion High School Student of the Month recipients! These two seniors have shown great leadership and dedication to their school and community. Congratulations Elizabeth and Sabrina!


Elizabeth "Beth" was nominated because of her excellent leadership in and out of the classroom. Her VHS faculty endorsement states "She is an extremely hard worker who always gives 100%!" Beth plans to attend USD to get a degree in Dental Hygiene. Her parents are Jason and DeAnn Szymonski.

Beth has been a part of numerous activities at VHS. Some of her sport activities include basketball, volleyball, and track. She participated in Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and was a Girl's State Alternate. Some of her awards include HOBY Leadership Delegate 2010, Most Improved for Basketball 2010-2011 and played in the 2012 State Basketball tournament. She has volunteered at the Vermillion Public Library and at the Wakonda Heritage Manor. Way to go Beth!

Sabrina was nominated because she is a hard working student and is full of positive energy in class. Her VHS endorsement said "She is fun to have in class and has a creative edge!" She plans to attend USD and go into the field of Biochemistry. Her parents are Dallas and Susan Schnack.

 Sabrina has showed her love for the arts by participating in numerous plays through high school and the Vermillion Community Theater. She has been involved in vocal performances through different choir groups. Sabrina has been a big part of her community volunteering for groups such as the


Welcome Table, Nursing Home, City Clean-up and was a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions to name a few. Some of her awards include lettering in choir and theater, receiving a gold medal in Astronomy and silver medal in Tower Building for Science Olympiad and receiving the USD Opportunity Scholarship.  Congratulations Sabrina!
