After many years of struggling with COPD, Carl Styles passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 15, 2012.
He was born in 1942 and was one of 14 children born to Harold and Mary Styles of Draper.
Carl married the love of his life, Roberta (Hoff) and moved to California where together they raised five children. As their children were growing, the Styles relocated to their roots in South Dakota where Carl worked in construction. Upon retirement, Carl spent his time doing what he loved which included: fishing, hunting, playing and collecting guitars, riding his lawn mower to visit with neighbors, and spending time with his family.
Carl was greatly loved and will be missed by his wife of 50 years; his children, Robert (Lori), Harold (Nancy), Roger (Denice), Carla (Scott) Baker, and Terry (Carrie); 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; as well as his siblings Ed, Paul, Leroy, Dan, Richard, Rosemary, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and several in-laws.
Carl was stubborn but incredibly unselfish therefore, his body was donated to transplant and medical research to continue his efforts to help and benefit others.
A special thank you to the Aseracare Hospice Staff for their exceptional in-home care during Carl's decline.
A celebration of Carl's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Miller West Funeral Chapel (41st and Valley View Rd). The family will be present one hour prior to the service.
