Edgar "Ted" Thornton Pfeil III, 67, passed away on June 1, 2012, in Volin. A memorial service will be held at Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion, South Dakota, on Friday, June 8, 2012, at 7 p.m.
Ted was born on March 4, 1945, in Baltimore, MD, to Edgar Jr. and Virginia (Smith) Pfeil. He graduated from Orme School in 1963 and went on to earn a degree from Notre Dame University in 1968.
He married Margaret Crew on July 14, 2006, and spent their years together in Vermillion.
Ted worked in the medical field as a medical technologist and as a salesman for VWR and AO Smith. He owned and operated several businesses in Phoenix and also worked in real estate development there.
The opposite of a snowbird, he moved from Phoenix to the Beresford area in late 2001 to raise cattle, which he did on a small scale there and later outside Vermillion until 2010.
Edgar was survived by his spouse, Margaret Crew; and his sister, Wendy (Pete) Newcomer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Virginia Pfeil.
Services have been entrusted to Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion.
