Red Sox encounter rain last week

The Vermillion Red Sox tried twice last week to play a game against Garretson, but rain and wet conditions prevented it on two successive nights.

Next up for the Sox will be a home game against Renner at 2 p.m. Sunday at Prentis Park.  Next Wednesday, the Sox play at Beresford at 7:30 p.m.

The Red Sox, who had beaten Larchwood 7-3 in their opener, improved to 2-0 with a 5-1 league win at Akron over the Rebels.  Robin Chute went eight innings to pick up the pitching win.  A.J. Staiert threw the ninth inning to polish off the victory.

Tyler Candor had a double for the Red Sox offense.
