Rob Roy Williams

Rob Roy Williams of Yankton died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his residence in Dell Rapids.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, at United Church of Christ Congregational with Rev. Dr. Rick Jensen officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery, Yankton, with Military Graveside Rites by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791 and the SDARNG Honor Guard. Visitations began at 5 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, and then one hour prior to the service at the church.


Rob Roy was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Berwyn, NE to Glenn Charles and Vivian Vallie (Welch) Williams.  He received his public school education in Hastings, NE and was a graduate of Hastings College and the Mayo Clinic School of Physical Therapy.  Rob Roy received the Distinguished Service Award at the University of South Dakota in 1973, was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the South Dakota Physical Therapy Association, The South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association, the North Central Conference and the Coyote Hall of Fame.  He was a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, The South Dakota Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, the National Athletics Trainers Association and the South Dakota Chapter of the National Athletic Trainers Association.  He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Yankton.  Roy Roy married Chelsea Lynn McGrew June 8, 1953 in Orleans, NE. 

Rob Roy is survived by two daughters, Doe Lynn Anderson and Beth Ann Prasek, both of Dell Rapids; son, Ladd Ryan Williams of Truckee, CA; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Beverly Ann Adair of Visalia, CA and Muriel Jean Burge of Norfolk, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Chelsea Lynn Williams.
