Ruth Alne, 86, of Columbus, IN, formerly of Vermillion, died at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born July 23, 1925 in Vermillion, Mrs. Alne was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Petersen Nelson.
She was a 1943 graduate of University High School in Vermillion, and attended a cadet nursing program at Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, IA.
She married Harold Alne in Vermillion on Nov. 8, 1947 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1992.
Mrs. Alne was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion, and First Lutheran Church in Columbus, IN.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Alne was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Columbus, IN, with Pastor Larry Isbell and Pastor Edward Boone officiating.
Calling hours were from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
A private burial will be in BluffView Cemetery in Vermillion.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation.

Mrs. Alne is survived by a daughter, Carol (Gary) Walters of Columbus, IN; two sisters, Mary Prindle of Salt Lake City, UT and Carrie Munger of Howard; two brothers, Glen (Chelaine) Nelson of Sioux Falls, and Harold (Olga) Nelson of Valparaiso, IN; and two grandsons, Marc (Samantha) Walters of Indianapolis, IN and Eric (Michelle) Walters of Fishers, IN.
