University of South Dakota women's soccer coach Mandy Green has announced the Coyotes' 2012 season schedule. Seven home games highlight the upcoming campaign for the Coyotes.
After playing at Northern Iowa and Nebraska-Omaha for exhibition games, the Coyotes will make their regular-season debut on Aug. 17 at Gonzaga for a 6 p.m., Central time contest in Spokane, WA. The Coyotes will conclude the weekend trip with a game at Idaho on Aug. 19.
USD's home debut is set for Aug. 26 against North Dakota (1 p.m. start). The game is part of a three-game homestand which includes contests against Creighton (Aug. 28) and the College of St. Mary (Sept. 2).
The Coyotes then begin a season-long stretch of seven consecutive road games, which will complete the month of September. South Dakota will play nonconference games at Drake (Sept. 7), Green Bay (Sept. 9), Loyola-Chicago (Sept. 14), Northern Illinois (Sept. 16) and Iowa State (Sept. 23) before opening Summit League play on Sept. 28 at IUPUI. The Coyotes wrap up the month at Western Illinois (Sept. 30) for another conference contest.
USD returns home on Oct. 5 to play host to Nebraska-Omaha, which starts another three-game homestand. The Coyotes will also play host to Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne (Oct. 12) and Oakland (Oct. 14) as part of that stretch.
The Coyotes hit the road for games at North Dakota State (Oct. 19) and South Dakota State (Oct. 21) before concluding the regular season on Oct. 27 at home against Missouri-Kansas City.
The Summit League tournament is set for Nov. 8-10 in Brookings. The winner of that event earns an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. USD is eligible for the Summit League and NCAA tournaments for the first time in 2012.
