Wednesday Morning

 Ladies Association

August 8 was a great day!

About 24 ladies were at luncheon today. Everyone was feeling chattery (if that is a word?) and it sounded sooo good! Lots of fun.

Rula Hatch and Babe Hurowitz provided the desserts and they were great! Even the "homemade" cupcakes!

We had a guest today:  Joanne Stockland was invited by Brenda Chatham. Great having you Joanne.

The $5 drawings were won by Babe Hurowitz and Me (Pat Steckelberg). I jokingly said draw my name and wow!! Edith came thru and did … boy was I surprised!

Quarters were won by: Joan Olson, Beth Silvano (3 times), Irma Burbach and Brenda Chatham.

Bridge report: Irma Burbach was high and Ellie Davis was second high.

Golf report: Three of us ladies golfed today. We played "Low Score on Par 4's". Edith Nelson had total of 30, Darlene Engbrecht had 37 and I (Pat) had 40.  This was another day of terrible golfing for me. I even lost a ball AT the water fountain stop end of #2. Could not find it anywhere … bet no one else had ever done that!!

I did par #8 though. Edith and Darlene did very well.

Dominoes report: There were three tables and today we had a RECORD LOW –Brenda Chatham. She had 70 for a grand total. WOW! Good going Brenda!!

Round 1 – Babe Hurowitz, Eileen Turner, and Joan Olson.

Round 2 – Brenda Chatham, Thelma Raines, and Beth Silvano.

Round 3 – Babe Hurowitz, Eileen Turner, and Agnes Mockler.

Total Score – Brenda Chatham, Thelma Raines and Anita White.  See how exciting it can be at The Bluffs!!  Come join us!

WeLL

Finally there was a break in the heat wave tonight, Aug. 8. There was cloud cover and a lovely breeze. The weather was agreeable to a WELL substitute, Abby Doorn who had two birdies tonight on #2 and #8 and shared Low Net honors with Jonie Hook. They both had a 30! There was discussion about Abby's days as a Coyote athlete on the USD golf team. I think they call that a ringer??

Low Gross went to Mary Gauer, once again, with a one over par 37! Good job Mary. Longest putt on #6 was Pat Flannigan and the 50/50 went to Ann Jensen of $7. Only 2 more weeks of league play left and the Women's 4 person scramble is next Saturday. It seems like the summer went fast but fun.

Men's Senior Golf

The four-man team of Guy Button, Milo Gilbertson, Louie Fostvedt and Max Anderson won by three holes over the team of Lloyd Helseth, Tim O'Connor, Jeri Engelking and Cleland Cook. Max Anderson sank a 16-foot birdie putt on #13.
