The University of South Dakota football team reported for fall camp on Sunday. The Coyotes are beginning their first season under the direction of Head Coach Joe Glenn.
After checking into dorms and receiving equipment on Sunday, the team held a meal and team meetings. After an early-morning walkthrough, the first official practice was set for Monday at 10 a.m. on the USD practice fields east of the DakotaDome (weather permitting).
The team has 29 practice sessions scheduled prior to its season opener at Montana on Sept. 1. That includes six days with two-a-day practices, the first of which is set for Aug. 11.
South Dakota returns four starters on offense and six starters on defense from last year's team that finished 6-5. In addition, both senior punter Cole Zwiefelhofer (Chippewa Falls, WS) and junior kicker Kevin Robb (Rapid City) also return.
The Coyotes are beginning their first year as members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. They are eligible for the playoffs for the first time.
